Berlin’s own Drew Portnoy hosts the funniest local and touring English-language comedians at Umspannwerk Ost, a historic power substation built in 1899 in Friedrichshain. Enjoy drinks, draft beer and snacks every other Saturday in a one-of-a-kind theater reminiscent of Berlin’s cabaret-laden.

Comedians:

Drew Portnoy - Drew Portnoy traded the mountains of Colorado for the nightliife of Berlin over a decade ago. Then he became a father. His dry style and sharp tongue have made him a popular comedian throughout Germany and Europe in both German and English. And he was a finalist in Quatsch Comedy Club's annual Talentschmiede and recently won NPR Berlin's storytelling competition.

Passun Azhand - Passun is 40 and unknown, but extremely funny. Ruthless stand-up comedy from a former war refugee and current bon vivant, who looks at the world without fear in his ironic and mostly foggy way. A Berlin original who has been on the nation's stages for 13 years

Daniel Stern - From the United States, now based in Berlin; Daniel Stern is a former talk show host, a retired competitive eater, a screenwriter, actor and stand up comedian. Stern's live performances are a manic, sweaty collage of anarchic wit, earnest confessions and stories about riding the bus. His acting resume also includes dramatic roles, voice work and a bit of tasteful partial nudity.
In 2021 Daniel Stern Founded "PodFest Berlin", a grassroots podcasting festival for Berlin's podcast creators and fans.

Daniel podcasts with Berlin news show Radio Spaetkauf and has produced countless live shows with titles like "Motherfudgers", "An Hour on the M41 Bus" or the sort of eponymous "Staniel Dern Show". Stern took last place behind three children in an NBA Summer League half time dance-off.

Chris Davis - Chris Davis is a Berlin based comedian from Glasgow, Scotland. Since 2012 he has grown his stand-up career throughout Europe and beyond finding himself at a multitude of festivals and stages across the globe. With successful solo shows at Edinburgh and Glasgow Fringe festivals, his whacky wit and bouncing hair will, if you permit, traverse you to a wonderful corner of his mind. For your sake, let's hope it's only momentary

William Engelhardt - A German comedian making waves in the English comedy scene with the edge of a Berlin nightclub at 3 AM. Walking the fine line between uproarious laughter and razor-sharp wit, he turns life’s misery into rapid-fire jokes that redraw boundaries. Join him as he stumbles through the absurdity of life, armed with nothing but his quick wit and a knack for making even the language barrier chuckle.
