In collaboration with our fine friends at ArtConnect, we are happy to announce our Spring Auction, opening on April 15. This event is comprised of 2 parts; the physical—a curated exhibition at the Weserhalle gallery; the digital—an online presentation where the work will be available through our auction.
All selected artworks will start at 0€ with no minimum price: we realise that this is a risk, but in our experience, by making the art accessible to everyone in our network encourages greater participation and often yields surprisingly positive results. When submitting an entry to the auction, the artist had the opportunity to choose the percentage of the final sales price for donation to the gallery. Weserhalle will use these funds to help ensure the ongoing programme.
Our open call generated 784 artwork entries from 71 nationalities, with artists ranging from 19 to 70 years young. Weserhalle curated this work alongside 3 guest curators: Cibelle Cavalli Bastos (they/them), an artist, musician and independent researcher; Nina Barret Memy (her/she), a multidisciplinary artist and an art mediator at the Boros Foundation; and Simon Mann (he/him), a conceptual artist working primarily with sculptures, textiles, and painting.
34 artists have been selected to participate in our upcoming spring auction, including 10 artists from the ArtConnect community. Selected work is now live at weserhalle.com. Auction opens April 15, ends April 22. Happy bidding!
