Finnish avant garde, noise-rock two piece NYOS return with their sixth full-length release: ‘Waterfall Cave Fantasy, Forever’. Combining the mutant funk-punk looping of Battles and Tortoise with a cinematic wall of sound akin to that of post-rock titans Russian Circles, NYOS continue to contrast their outstanding compositional complexity with live improvisations. First explored on the 2022 LP ‘Celebration’, this newfound call and response creative freedom on ‘Waterfall Cave Fantasy, Forever’ sees NYOS reach new heights of playful chaos and uninhibited, soaring joy.

NYOS came to be when, in 2012, guitarist Tom Brooke took the plunge and left his hometown of Leeds in the UK for Finland, with dreams of establishing his own recording studio, Tonehaven, which now doubles up as the band’s HQ. Before long, Tom crossed paths with drummer Tuomas Kainulainen who, having cut his teeth in the local punk scene, was ready to start something new. The connection was instant, with the duo establishing their distinctive, restless blend of math-rock, free jazz and harsh noise and writing their debut release, 2015’s six-part single ‘Vltava’, within their first few practices.

The band haven’t stopped since then either, from releasing six full-length albums and dozens of singles to playing hundreds of shows around the world with international contemporaries including Zeal & Ardor, Esben & The Witch and The Comet Is Coming. With almost a decade of ceaseless creativity under their belts, the band’s forthcoming album finds NYOS exploring their unique dynamic as a duo; using crushing sawtooth distortion, delicate cymbal work and a powerful use of space to capture the immediacy and intimacy of their live shows to spectacular effect.

Bodies of Conceit:

Leipzig based duo Bodies of Conceit explore low ends and distortions. Slowly evolving loops and abstract Avant-Garde soundscapes are disrupted by bursts of noise and slowed down techno loops. Founded in early 2022 during the Noise Narratif symposium in Halle (Saale), Bodies of Conceit play with experimental sound creation using synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, field recordings, contact mics etc. Experimental Drone/Ambient from the depths of the woods infused with Industrial Harsh Noise, between sound art and a dark clubby atmosphere and roots in DIY Punk/Hardcore.

Das finnische Avantgarde-Noise-Rock-Duo NYOS meldet sich mit seinem sechsten Album zurück: 'Waterfall Cave Fantasy, Forever'. NYOS kombinieren die mutierten Funk-Punk-Loops von Battles und Tortoise mit einer cineastischen Soundwand, die der der Post-Rock-Titanen Russian Circles ähnelt, und kontrastieren ihre herausragende kompositorische Komplexität weiterhin mit Live-Improvisationen. Erstmals auf der 2022 erschienenen LP "Celebration" erkundet, erreichen NYOS mit "Waterfall Cave Fantasy, Forever" neue Höhen des spielerischen Chaos und der ungehemmten, aufsteigenden Freude.

NYOS entstanden, als Gitarrist Tom Brooke 2012 den Sprung wagte und seine Heimatstadt Leeds in Großbritannien verließ, um in Finnland sein eigenes Aufnahmestudio, Tonehaven, zu eröffnen, das heute auch das Hauptquartier der Band ist. Es dauerte nicht lange, bis Tom den Schlagzeuger Tuomas Kainulainen kennenlernte, der sich in der lokalen Punkszene seine Zähne ausgebissen hatte und bereit war, etwas Neues zu beginnen. Die Verbindung war sofort da, und das Duo etablierte seine unverwechselbare, rastlose Mischung aus Math-Rock, Free Jazz und hartem Lärm und schrieb ihr Debüt, die sechsteilige Single "Vltava" von 2015, innerhalb der ersten paar Proben.

Seitdem hat die Band nicht aufgehört, sechs Alben und Dutzende von Singles zu veröffentlichen und Hunderte von Shows auf der ganzen Welt mit internationalen Zeitgenossen wie Zeal & Ardor, Esben & The Witch und The Comet Is Coming zu spielen.

Bodies of Conceit:

Das Leipziger Duo Bodies of Conceit erforscht Low Ends und Verzerrungen. Langsam sich entwickelnde Loops und abstrakte Avantgarde-Soundscapes werden durch Geräuschausbrüche und verlangsamte Techno-Loops unterbrochen. Gegründet Anfang 2022 während des Noise Narratif Symposiums in Halle (Saale), spielen Bodies of Conceit mit experimenteller Klangerzeugung unter Verwendung von Synthesizern, Drum Machines, Samplern, Field Recordings, Kontaktmikros etc. Experimenteller Drone/Ambient aus den Tiefen des Waldes, durchsetzt mit Industrial Harsh Noise, zwischen Klangkunst und dunkler Clubatmosphäre und Wurzeln im DIY Punk/Hardcore.
