In collaboration with the BMW Foundation, we are thrilled to present this unique event featuring acclaimed author Hanae Bezad. Hanae will share selected passages from her debut book Being Other (2023). But this gathering will be more than just a typical reading: It’s an opportunity for a dynamic conversation between the author and you – the audience. Together, we’ll explore the profound themes and ideas that Hanae delves into in her work. Our moderator for this evening is Mariam Dabdoub, a Leipzig-born editor and moderator who studied media, communication and sociology. In her work she focuses on social issues and climate justice.

About the author:
Hanae Bezad is a serial entrepreneur whose expertise lies at the intersection of technology, sustainability, inclusion, entrepreneurship, and international development. In her debut book, Hanae introduces readers to a groundbreaking leadership movement, showcasing the transformative power of Black/Indigenous/women of colour across various industries.

About the book:
Being Other invites readers to reconsider adversity as a source of strength and resilience. Through her own lived experiences—as a woman, an Arab, a Muslim, and an African—and the stories of inspirational women, Hanae illustrates how challenges such as racism and misogyny can be transformed into tools for personal and societal transformation and can become sources of strength and resilience.
